Novak Djokovic also holds the record for winning the most Grand Slam titles in the men’s singles division.
Novak Djokovic has officially overtaken Roger Federer to become the player with the most wins in Grand Slams during the Open Era.
The Serbian tennis star defeated Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo on Monday to secure a spot in the last eight of the French Open 2024. Djokovic’s win over the Argentine tennis star was his 370th win in the Grand Slams.
As a result, the ATP World No. #1 has become the player with the most Grand Slam wins in the Open Era. Behind Djokovic, Roger Federer is placed second with a total of 369 victories in Grand Slam tournaments. Former American tennis ace Serena Williams is placed third on the list with 367 wins, and Rafael Nadal is in the fourth spot with 314 wins.
Novak Djokovic has also won 24 singles Grand Slam titles, the highest in the men’s division in the Open Era. Rafael Nadal has won 22 Majors, while Roger Federer is a 20-time Grand Slam champion.
However, he’s still tied with Margaret Court on the overall list, as she has also won 24 Grand Slam titles, followed by Serena Williams’ 23 singles Major triumphs.
Djokovic made his debut in the ATP circuit at the age of 15 in 2003. He later entered the top 100 of the ATP at age 18, and in July 2006, he won his first title on the tour. Later, 2008 was a breakthrough year for the Serb as he won his first Grand Slam tournament, the Australian Open. He also secured the bronze medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Thus, after more than two years of making his professional debut, the Serb has managed to maintain the top rank in the ATP standings. Next up, Novak Djokovic will face Norwegian tennis star Casper Ruud in the quarterfinals of the 2024 French Open.
