In the current edition, while some of the top-ranked players are slated to start their campaign, certain players will miss the tournament due to injury concerns.
Here is a list of players who are going to miss the Grand Slam event this year.
List of players who have withdrawn from French Open 2024
Marin Cilic
Marin Cilic has been suffering from a knee injury since 2023. The former semi-finalist at the French Open is going to miss the tournament this year as he has undergone surgery.
This year, he entered as a wildcard in the Monte Carlo Masters and Madrid Open but had to withdraw from both tournaments citing the same injury. This is going to be his second consecutive absence at the French Open, as he had missed the event last year also. He has been replaced by Luca Van Assche.
Jiri Lehecka
The 22-year-old Jiri Lehecka has also withdrawn from the 2024 French Open citing a back injury. He even had to retire during the first set in the semi-final match of the Madrid Open 2024 against Felix Auger Aliassime.
He has been replaced by Maximilian Marterer in the tournament. This is Jiri’s first absence at the event since his first appearance in 2022. Previously, he had also missed the Italian Open 2024 due to the same injury concern.
Matteo Berrettini
Italian tennis star Matteo Berrettini has withdrawn from the 2024 French Open. Berrettini, who missed last year’s tournament due to injury, said on Instagram he is not yet ready for best-of-five set matches despite winning the Marrakesh title in April after a six-month injury layoff.
Facundo Diaz Acosta
The 48th-ranked, 23-year-old ATP men’s singles player from Argentina is also going to miss the mega tournament this year. Although he exited last year in the first round, would have looked to better his stats in the current year.
David Goffin has been named as the replacement of Facundo in the tournament whose best finish was back in 2016 when he entered the quarter-final stage.

Petra Kvitova
The former world no. #2 women’s singles tennis player is also amongst the ones who will be missing the 2024 French Open. Kvitova announced her pregnancy in January 2024, after which she didn’t feature in any tournament.
Emina Bektas is going to take the court in her place who has earlier made a single appearance in the year 2016 where she was defeated in the first qualifier.

Jessica Pegula
World No. 5 Jessica Pegula has withdrawn from the French Open due to fitness concerns. The American, a quarterfinalist at Roland Garros two years ago, has been sidelined by a neck injury since April and is not fully fit to compete in the clay-court Grand Slam.
