This is Iga Swiatek’s best performance at The Championships.
Having fallen from World No. 2 to No. 8 and unable to defend any of her clay titles, including the Roland Garros, Italian Open, and Madrid Open, who would have thought that Iga Świątek would make it to the Wimbledon 2025 semi-final?
Yet, the Pole has scripted history, defeating a formidable pool of players to reach her maiden semi-final appearance at SW19.

Liudmila Samsonova, who had not dropped a set heading into this quarter-final round, was stunned by the Pole from the outset, as Swiatek broke the Russian’s serve twice, to seal the opening set. She seemed to be in a hurry, leading 3-0 in the second set, when Samsonova decided to unleash herself. She recovered the break, and the match was tied at 5-5.
However, the former World No. 1 did well to hold and went on to convert her second break point to achieve one of the most significant milestones of her tennis career. Swiatek has never reached the last four at the All England Club before, further highlighting the magnitude of her triumph.
Contrary to her previous events, the Pole has seemed far more confident at Wimbledon this year, and not having the pressure to defend points has clearly paid off. She was tested in the second round by Caty McNally, against whom she dropped her first and only set of the tournament, before staging an excellent comeback to seal the deal.
Her dominant wins over Danielle Collins and Clara Tauson showed that the five-time Grand Slam champion means business at the prestigious event this year. While Swiatek’s footwork and court coverage have always been second to none, it is her serving which has found her most success at Wimbledon 2025.
Swiatek is the player with the highest win rate on first serve points in women’s singles at the marquee tournament, and is the first ever player to claim 40+ wins on tour for more than four straight seasons since Karolina Pliskova, once again bringing her excellent consistency to the fore.
For a maiden Wimbledon final berth, Iga Swiatek will take on Belinda Bencic in the semi-finals. Interestingly, the last time they had faced off, the Pole had won in three sets, at this very Championship in 2023.
