Iga Swiatek vs Belinda Bencic prediction, betting tips & odds, head-to-head, preview: Wimbledon 2025

Swiatek has a superior h2h record against her semi-final opponent.

Dropping from World No. 2 to No. 8 and unable to defend her clay titles — including Roland Garros, the Italian Open, and Madrid Open, few imagined Iga Swiatek would make a deep run at Wimbledon 2025. Yet, the Polish star defied expectations, battling past a tough field to reach her first-ever semi-final at the All England Club.

Up against Liudmila Samsonova, who hadn’t lost a set before the quarters, Swiątek started strong, breaking twice to claim the first set and jumping to a quick 3-0 lead in the second.

Although Samsonova clawed back to 5-5, the five-time Grand Slam champion stayed composed, held serve, and broke again to secure one of the biggest milestones of her career.

Preview

Belinda Bencic ousted World No. 7 Mirra Andreeva, as the super mom won consecutive tie-breakers to get the job done. The Russian had enjoyed a solid run until the fourth round and quickly became a title contender.

However, the Swiss player’s superb return game, helped her tackle Andreeva’s gun serves, and ultimately it was her experience that saw her advance to the next round.

This is Belinda Bencic’s best-ever Grand Slam outing, matching her US Open 2019 heroics. The 28-year-old had reached the fourth round in 2023 and never went further at the Championship before. She missed nearly the entire 2024 season, due to pregnancy.

From being ranked outside the top-400 at the start of 2025, to currently being #20 in the world, the Swiss has had a dream campaign so far. However, in Iga Swiatek, she faces a tough proposition, as the Pole has been playing her best tennis this year.

Interestingly, they last met at Wimbledon in 2023, where Swiatek came from a set down to secure the victory — their only previous clash on grass. Apart from that match, they share one win each and one withdrawal in their head-to-head.

However, Wednesday’s semi-final will be their most significant meeting yet, with a historic first Wimbledon final berth and a shot at tennis’s most prestigious title on the line for both.

Match prediction

With five Slams under her belt, if there was one surface that Swiatek had not conquered, it was grass. However, she reached her first final in over 12 months at Bad Homburg, a grass event, and is now eyeing for a first-ever Wimbledon final.

Bencic has a complete game, and her effective returns will have to be executed with perfection, against the Pole, who has served possibly the best this year at Wimbledon. Swiatek is the player with the highest win-rate on first serve points in women’s singles at the marquee tournament and will rely on it to overcome the Swiss in the semis.

On the other hand, Bencic’s serves have lacked venom, and with Swiatek being one of the best movers on the WTA Tour, she will look to exploit that weakness fully. Still, Bencic cannot be counted out, at this stage of her career, she has the experience to overcome anyone, which she has proven in her past few rounds.

Ultimately, it may all come down to who handles the key moments under pressure better.

Result: Iga Swiatek to win in three sets.
