The hosts will next face South Korea.

India registered a clinical 3-0 victory over Mongolia in their latest tie at the Billie Jean King Cup 2026 Asia/Oceania Group I, producing one of the most dominant performances of the tournament.

The hosts were in complete control throughout, conceding just a single game across all three matches and wrapping up each rubber in under 50 minutes.

Zeel Desai set the tone with a flawless display, dismantling Anu Vjin Gantor 6-0, 6-0 in just 37 minutes. Sahaja Yamalapalli followed with an equally commanding performance, beating Jargal Altansarnai by the same scoreline to seal the tie early for India.

In the doubles rubber, Vaishnavi Adkar and Rutuja Bhosale ensured there was no let-up, cruising to a 6-1, 6-0 win to complete the sweep.

Despite the straightforward nature of the result, the Indian camp remained focused on execution and preparation. “Before we discussed something to work on specific things… and I would say I did it and it felt good,” Zeel Desai revealed, highlighting a process-driven approach.

Zeel Desai’s commitment to the national team also stood out, having joined the squad despite being in the middle of another tournament. “Always think for the country is always going to be on the top priority… I would any day sacrifice anything… to play for India,” she said.

Captain Vishal Uppal praised her decision, adding, “It’s good on her that she chose to leave and come to represent India, very well knowing that she may not be in the team.”

With the win, India now turn their attention to a decisive tie against South Korea. While qualification scenarios remain dependent on other results, Uppal made the team’s intent clear: “For us, it’s important that we go out and beat Korea tomorrow… whether we make it to the playoffs or not is secondary.”

Reflecting on the earlier loss to Thailand, he added, “We’re not going to think about that… we learn from the past and then just move on.”

Rutuja Bhosale highlighted the physical demands of the competition while crediting the support staff. “Coming to BJKC, we know that we have to play five days in a row… the physios are doing such a great job taking care of all of us,” she said, adding that the quick tie helped recovery ahead of the next challenge.

For youngster Vaishnavi Adkar, the team environment has been a major positive. “Having all of these girls who have the experience… it helps me… definitely a positive impact on my game,” she noted.

Sahaja Yamalapalli, who bounced back strongly after a previous loss, summed up the team’s mindset: “Just because we lost one match doesn’t mean we’re stopping there… we always have to look forward.”
