Aryna Sabalenka vs Jelena Ostapenko preview
Aryna Sabalenka is the new queen of drop shots, as it certainly looked like it against Svitolina in the round of 16 match. Despite a shaky start, Sabalenka stood strong against the former Italian Open champion. The Belarusian has won 23 of the 29 matches this season.
Her performance on clay has been remarkable, as she has emerged victorious in nine out of 11 matches. The World No. 2 started her season by defending her Australian Open title. Later, she suffered early eliminations in the Dubai Tennis Championships, the Miami Open, and the Stuttgart Open.
Looking at Sabalenka’s career achievements, she has won 20 career titles in total, 14 in singles and six in doubles. However, the 26-year-old hasn’t tasted victory in Rome.
On the other hand, Ostapenko reached the final in Adelaide by defeating Sorana Cirstea, Caroline Garcia, Marta Kostyuk, and Ekaterina Alexandrova in January. As a result, she also returned to the top 10 in the WTA rankings. Moreover, Ostapenko defeated Anastasia Potopova, and Sara Sorribos Tormo to secure a spot in the fourth round.

Prediction
Jelena Ostapenko must be looking forward to opening her account against Sabalenka. However, it won’t be a cakewalk, as the 26-year-old is currently in red-hot form. Nevertheless, Ostapenko has better return game stats in comparison to Sabalenka.
Recently, World No. 10 Ostapenko has saved 56.64% of breakpoints and converted 45%, whereas Sabalenka has saved 61.2% of breakpoints while converting 47%.
Sabalenka faced a back issue in her last game against Svitolina, but she managed to pull off a thriller. She would be sceptical about her match against Ostapenko in QF. She does have a day off to recover, but, with the French Open around the corner, she might go a little easy in the quarterfinal tie. This year, Ostapenka has a 24/9 win-loss record, whereas Sabalenka boasts a 23/6 win-loss record.
In the last year, Ostapenko has played most of her matches on the Masters series, winning 59.26% of matches (W/L 16/11), whereas Sabalenka has played most of their matches on the Masters series, winning 68.97% of matches (W/L 20/9).
Prediction: Sabalenka to win in three sets.
