Bopanna and Ebden began their Italian Open campaign with a convincing win.

After an early exit from the ATP Masters events in Monte-Carlo and Madrid, the doubles team of Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden started their campaign Italian Open 2024 with a straight-set victory over the Italian pair Matteo Arnaldi and Francesco Passaro.

Bopanna and Ebden, who lost in the first round of their two previous tournaments, had a disappointing month as the former World No. 1 doubles team. However, the Indo-Australian duo defeated Arnaldi and Passaro with a convincing 6-2, 6-2 win in just 52 minutes.

The pair converted four out of six break-point chances while preventing their opponents from capitalizing on any of the three break-point opportunities they had.

In the second round, the 2024 Miami Open champions will compete against another Italian duo, Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori. Bolelli and Vavassori advanced after defeating Christopher Eubanks and John Peers in their opening 82-minute match with a score of 7-6(4), 6-3.
