Jack Draper has had an injury-hampered season
British tennis star Jack Draper confirmed that his 2026 season has ended due to a persistent injury and that he will not return to competitive tennis until 2027. The 24-year-old has been dealing with a bone bruise in his dominant left arm, which has hampered his current season.
Draper, a former world No. 4, has not competed at a single Grand Slam this year, missing Wimbledon due to injury on his left-arm injury. He then returned at the Canadian Open and was last seen in action in August during a first-round clash at the Cincinnati Open, where he lost 3-6, 5-7 to Martin Landaluce.
Following his early exits, Draper had dropped to No. 143 in the latest ATP rankings. Earlier in June, he had dropped as low as No. 160 in the world.

Jack Draper took to Instagram to share a heartfelt post, opening up about his injury issues during the past year.
“Don’t usually love lots of words on here but I wanted to update you that I am aiming to return to the tour at the start of 2027,” Draper wrote. “Last summer all the dedication and work I had put into this sport was coming together. It was all going my way and the path seemed so clear.”
Draper revealed that “a complicated injury” has hampered his return to full fitness on court. He also spoke about how dealing with the niggling injury has impacted him.
“Managing so much change, adversity and pain has helped me to grow massively in many areas of my life but has also made me feel a level of fatigue,” he wrote. “I am taking this time to reset and heal so when I return I am 100% ready to go.”
“Tennis is my purpose and passion and so when I step back on court I want to make sure that there’s nothing holding me back from where I want to go.”
His injury-impacted 2026 season aside, Draper remains a highly accomplished player. He reached the US Open 2024 semi-finals and won his first Masters 1000 title at Indian Wells in 2025.
