Jack Draper’s third-round match against Vit Kopriva cost the Briton a racquet. But it did not cost him the match as he registered a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Kopriva on Sunday and progressed to the Italian Open next round. 

Kopriva’s defensive tactics in the second set caused Draper to lose out on four break points and the lead. After the one-hour, 41-minute win, the British left-hander finds himself one win away from the quarter-finals for the first time and a possible clash with Carlos Alcaraz. 

The men’s singles draw has witnessed no significant upsets except for the ninth seed, Holger Rune. Moutet accounted for the Scandinavian in the third round after a marathon three-setter. The Frenchman edged out Rune, 7-5, 5-7, 7-6 (4) after spending three hours and 44 minutes on court – the fourth longest match in Rome since 1991. It was also Moutet’s first career top-ten win.
