Preview: Jannik Sinner vs Alexander Zverev prediction, betting tips & odds, head-to-head | Indian Wells Open 2026

Sinner and Zverev will clash in the last four with a maiden title round appearance on the line for both.

Jannik Sinner posted an emphatic win, needing just 67 minutes for the 6-1, 6-2 win over Learner Tien at the 2026 Indian Wells Open. After being pushed to the limit against Joao Fonseca, the Italian World No. 2 adopted an aggressive approach that the 20-year-old Tien had no answers to.

Sinner did not drop serve and won 25/30 (83%) of first serve points in the quarter-final showdown with Tien. The No. 2 seed has won 20 straight matches against left-handers on the ATP Tour after dispatching Tien, the lone surviving American in the men’s singles draw. He is now 9-0 at ATP 1000 events since his title run at the Paris Masters last season.

The Italian finds himself on 98 wins at Masters events ahead of his semi-final clash against Alexander Zverev.

Zverev accounted for Frenchman Arthur Fils 6-2, 6-3 in 82 minutes to advance to his first Indian Wells semi-final. The German World No. 4 ended Fils’ run at Tennis Paradise, a result hastened by the Frenchman’s 27 unforced errors and four double faults.

The German, a seven-time Masters 1000 champion, has now reached the last four at all nine ATP 1000 events in his career.

Preview

Sinner is aiming to win the only hard-court Masters title missing from his collection—the Indian Wells trophy. The Italian has never made the title round at Tennis Garden. It could be the third time lucky for Sinner ahead of his third straight semi-final in Southern California.

Should Sinner lift the trophy on Sunday, he will become just the third man, after Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic, to complete the set of six hard-court ATP 1000s.

Zverev has won seven ATP 1000 events and will look to win his first Indian Wells title this weekend. The German dropped just one set to reach his first Indian Wells semi-final, while his Italian rival was barely tested aside from the bruising encounter against Joao Fonseca.

Zverev, the No. 4 seed, will be aiming to become the first German to win the tournament since countryman Boris Becker in 1988.

Against Sinner, Zverev will be playing his 80th tour-level semi-final. Zverev trails 4-6 in the head-to-head against the four-time Grand Slam champion.

Match prediction

Sinner and Zverev will square off for the 11th time in their careers at Indian Wells on Saturday. The winner will break new ground as a first-time Indian Wells Open finalist.

Sinner has a 6-4 advantage after reversing a lopsided head-to-head series. Zverev, who won four of their first five meetings, has not defeated the Italian since the 2023 US Open.

The 24-year-old Sinner won five in a row against Zverev, beginning with the 2024 Cincinnati Open and up to the 2025 ATP Finals in Turin.

Zverev will look to take advantage of the slower conditions at Indian Wells and blunt Sinner’s baseline game by dragging him into longer rallies. Sinner holds a major advantage over Zverev, having won 10 of their last 11 sets.

Result: Jannik Sinner to win in straight sets.
