Jannik Sinner vs Lorenzo Musetti prediction, betting tips & odds, head-to-head, preview: US Open 2025

Jannik Sinner and Lorenzo Musetti face off in an all-Italian men’s singles quarter-final.

Alexander Bublik walked out onto Arthur Ashe Stadium for his fourth-round match against Jannik Sinner without dropping a service game throughout his three rounds at the 2025 US Open. That streak came to an end in the very first game when the Italian broke Bublik’s serve.

Sinner, the top seed, took just 23 minutes to close out the first set and victory followed in 81 minutes. The 6-1, 6-1, 6-1 win marked the 75th win as the ATP World No. 1 for the Italian, along with his 25th consecutive victory at a hard-court major.

Bublik had fought his way past American Tommy Paul in a marathon five-setter ahead of his fourth-round clash against Sinner. An off-colour Bublik effectively surrendered the match to the top seed when he double-faulted 13 times and struck another 31 unforced errors.

Sinner now goes on to face Lorenzo Musetti at a first-ever all-Italian men’s singles quarter-final match on the Grand Slam stage. Musetti breezed past Jaume Munar with a 6-3, 6-0, 6-1 win in one hour and 37 minutes and even their head-to-head score at 2-2.

Musetti broke the Spaniard’s serve early in the opening set to take a 2-1 lead. Both players were generous with their double faults, serving nine between them. The 23-year-old Musetti put together 27 winners and converted 7 breakpoint opportunities to advance to the last eight for the first time at Flushing Meadows.

Preview

After his emphatic win over Jaume Munar, Musetti has now made the last eight at Grand Slams on all three surfaces. The World No. 6 has been exceptional on clay, but has had only one win from four matches since the beginning of the North American hard-court swing. Musetti, the sole single-handed backhand player among the ATP Top 10, will make his quarter-final debut in New York on Wednesday.

Musetti, who is seeded tenth in New York, made the title round at the Monte-Carlo Masters, his maiden ATP 1000 level final. He followed it up with semi-final appearances at the ATP 1000 events in Madrid and Rome. A retirement at Roland Garros cost him a chance to make his maiden Grand Slam final. When he takes on Sinner, the No. 1o seed Musetti will be seeking his third Grand Slam semi-final appearance.

Meanwhile, Sinner continued on a predictable path to reach the quarter-finals at Flushing Meadows, marked by total domination over Kazakh Alexander Bublik. The Italian World No. 1 showed no signs of the vulnerability he displayed in the fourth round against Denis Shapovalov, to whom he reqlinqushed the first set of the match and the tournament.

Sinner also earned payback for his loss to Bublik in the fourth round at Halle ths year. The Kazakh is the only other player besides Carlos Alcaraz to register a win against the Italian World No. 1 this season.

Match Prediction

Jannik Snner and Lorenzo Musetti prepare to meet for the first time since their Monte-Carlo Masters quarter-final in 2023. Since then, Sinner has won four Grand Slams and is targeting his fifth. Musetti, who became the sixth Italian to make the ATP Top 10 during the Madrid Open earlier this year, is still searching for his first major title.

A spot in a Grand Slam final remains elusive for the newest member of the ATP Top 10. Early exits since Musetti’s semi-final appearance at Roland Garros cast a shadow over his chances of a favourable outcome against Sinner in their upcoming quarter-final face-off.

Musetti bowed out early at high-profile events in Canada and Cincinnati – tune-up events to the 2025 US Open. For the first time, two Italians are set to cross paths in the quarter-finals at a Grand Slam event. Given Sinner’s watertight game, another easy win is on the cards for the rampaging World No. 1.

Result: Sinner will win in four sets.
