List of records created by Linda Noskova with her 2026 Wimbledon triumph

Linda Noskova won her maiden Grand Slam by defeating Karolina Muchova in the final in three sets.

Linda Noskova arrived at Wimbledon as a name to watch, not necessarily the name everyone expected to be engraving on the Venus Rosewater Dish. The 21-year-old Czech had shown her grass-court credentials by winning in Berlin just weeks earlier, but navigating a Grand Slam fortnight and its accompanying pressure is an entirely different proposition.

She did it anyway, beating compatriot Karolina Muchova 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 in an all-Czech final, in a match where she had to demonstrate incredible grit, composure and resilience.

In doing so, Noskova did not just win a first Grand Slam title. She rewrote several pages of the record books in one afternoon on Centre Court. On that note, lets take a look at some of those records she broke.

5. Third player to win Wimbledon women’s title after saving match point

Noskova is only the third player in history to win the Wimbledon women’s singles title having saved a match point during the tournament, joining Venus Williams in 2005 and Serena Williams in 2009. She saved it against Sorana Cirstea in the third round, which she eventually won in the deciding set tiebreaker.

4, First all-Czech Grand Slam final in the Open Era

The final against Muchova marked the first time in the Open Era that two women representing the Czech Republic squared off for a major singles title. It was also the first single-nation final at the All England Club since the 2009 all-American final between Serena and Venus Williams.

3. Three Czech players win Wimbledon in past four editions

Noskova became the third Czech player in four years to win the Wimbledon women’s title, following Marketa Vondrousova in 2023 and Barbora Krejcikova in 2024. Czech women now own three of the last four Venus Rosewater Dishes, a level of dominance at one Grand Slam that no nation has matched in the women’s game in recent memory.

2. Ended the 22-year long curse by becoming the first player to win Wimbledon and another grass title in the same season

Having claimed the Berlin Open title just weeks before the Championships, Noskova won her second WTA Tour singles title on grass in Berlin, defeating Jessica Pegula in the final. Adding Wimbledon to it made her the first player to win both a grass-court title and Wimbledon in the same season in 22 years, ending a drought that had stretched back to 2004.

Prior to her, Maria Sharapova had won the Birmingham Open and Wimbledon in the same season, way back in 2004.

1. Youngest women’s singles Wimbledon champion in 15 years

At 21 years and 237 days old, Noskova became the youngest woman to win the Wimbledon women’s singles title in 15 years, since fellow Czech Petra Kvitová lifted the trophy in 2011. Noskova also joins Kvitová as the only Czech players to make their Grand Slam final debut at Wimbledon, and both walked away as champions.
