Maria Sharapova, Bryan brothers to be inducted into International Tennis Hall of Fame

Maria Sharapova, Bryan brothers retired from professional tennis in 2020.

The international tennis hall of fame is set to welcome former players Maria Sharapova and the Bryan brothers. Sharapova is regarded as one of the legends of the WTA tour similar to the pair of Mike Bryan/ Bob Bryan in men’s doubles in the ATP tour. The players will be inducted into the international tennis hall of fame in Newport, Rhode Island, USA from August 21-23, 2025.

The announcement was made by former world No #1 Kim Clijsters who is also the President of the International Tennis Hall of Fame and class of 2017 hall of famer. She said she was honoured to welcome Sharapova and the Bryan brothers. A video was shared on X by the International Tennis Hall of Fame where Clijsters could be seen interacting with Sharapova and Bryan brothers.

The Russian took to X to share her excitement, she said, ‘Incredibly grateful to receive this honor. A big thank you to The Hall of Fame, and to all the voters.’ She appreciated her fans for their support. Sharapova and the former world No #1 doubles pair will join over 267 inductees from 28 nations in 2025 at Rhode Island, USA.

Sharapova was part of the WTA tour for over 18 years. She completed the career slam in 2012 after winning the French Open and won the title again in 2014. She collected $38,777,962 in prize money and won 645 matches in her career. Sharapova hung up her racquet in 2020 at the age of 32.

The American twins are one of the most successful doubles pairs in the history of the sport. Mike won 18 grand slams in men’s doubles which is the most as of now and four in mixed doubles. Meanwhile Bob won 16 majors in men’s doubles and seven in mixed doubles. The duo also won the gold at the London Olympics in 2012. The legendary pair retired from the sport in 2020 after having played for 22 years at the age of 40.

They were also famous for their chest bumps which they occasionally performed after winning intense rallies and matches. They will be joining Sharapova next year as the ceremony in Rhode Island will also witness former players in action on the court during the inaugural edition of Hall of Fame Celebrity Pro Classic in 2025.
