Jannik Sinner becomes youngest player to reach three semifinals at Miami Open

The Italian achieved this fest by reaching the final four in the 2024 edition of the tournament.
Jannik Sinner’s semi-final appearance at the Miami Open 2024 is his fourth of the year after securing his 20th match win on Wednesday. The Italian clinical win against Czech Tomas Machac 6-4, 6-2 saw him hold on to 23/30 (77%) of his first serve points in the 91-minute face-off.
Sinner also finds himself in last four for a third time in four years in Miami. He previously reached the final in 2021 and 2023. By booking a ticket to the semi-final he is the youngest three-time semifinalist in Florida at 22 years, 223 days.
The other players on this list are Jim Courier (23 years, 214 days), Pete Sampras (23 years, 223 days), Rafael Nadal (23 years, 302 days), and Novak Djokovic (23 years, 314 days). The age gap between the two Americans on this list – Courier and Sampras is a mere nine days. Likewise, the gap between Nadal and Djokovic is just 12 days. Sinner, the latest to join the club is also the youngest by nearly a year to Courier.
Daniil Medvedev sent home Chilean Nicolas Jarry 6-2, 7-6(7) en route to an Australian Open rematch of his summit clash with Sinner. Medvedev improved to 18-3 this season after win against Jarry. The Russian held off a resurgent Jarry in the second set to take the win 1 hour, and 41 minutes.
The Italian World No. 3 who recently took over the position from Medvedev, trails the Russian 4-6, but has won their last four encounters on the trot going back to lasts years ATP 500 Beijing open final. Recently in Melbourne the young Italian outlasted Medvedev from two sets down to win 3-6, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-3 in a gruelling 3 hours, and 44 minutes.
Two more quarterfinals scheduled for today will reveal the second set of semifinalists. In the first quarter-final Alexander Zverev takes on Fabian Marozsan. Carlos Alcaraz meets Grigor Dimitrov in the second quarter final.
