Carlos Alcaraz withdraws from Monte Carlo Masters 2024 due to arm injury

The Spaniard, Carlor Alcaraz, pulled out just a day before his first round match.
Carlos Alcaraz has announced his withdrawal from the prestigious Monte Carlo Masters 2024. The young Spaniard, currently ranked No. 3 in the world, has been sidelined by a right arm injury, casting a shadow over his clay-court season.
According to the ATP Website, Alcaraz was spotted with his forearm taped during practice sessions in Monte-Carlo.
“I have been working in Monte Carlo and trying to recover until the last minute from an injured pronator teres in my right arm, but it was not possible and I cannot play! I was looking forward to playing… See you next year!’, Carlos Alcaraz dropped the news on X, formerly Twitter.
This injury marks the second consecutive year, the 20-year-old sensation has had to withdraw from the first ATP Masters 1000 event of the clay swing.
The withdrawal has reshuffled the draw, with Italian player Lorenzo Sonego stepping in as a lucky loser. Sonego will face Canadian powerhouse Felix Auger-Aliassime in a second-round match at Principality.
For Alcaraz, the Spaniard will look to recover from Injury in a knick of time. Despite a rough beginning to his season, he hit his groove at the Indian Wells Masters, winning his fifth big tournament there, signaling a return to the form that has earned him two Grand Slam titles.
Last year, Alcaraz made waves by reaching the semifinals of the French Open, only to fall to the legendary Novak Djokovic. However, he bounced back at Wimbledon, clinching a victory over Djokovic in the finals.
