His historic win came against Italy’s Matteo Arnaldi in the main draw at the principality. Nagal showcased his tenacity, overcoming a first-set loss to secure the match with a final score of 5-7, 6-2, 6-4.

This victory marks Nagal’s successful debut and makes him the first Indian to clinch a Masters 1000 match on clay. Looking ahead, Nagal is set to challenge last year’s finalist, world number seven Holger Rune.

The Danish player will be playing first time in Monaco’s 2024 tournament, having received a bye in the first round.
