Top five title favourites in men's singles at Munich Open 2025

Alexander Zverev remains the favourite to win the Munich Open 2025.
The Munich Open 2025 started on April 12, and Alexander Zverev, Ben Shelton, and others are set to battle for the title in Germany. The clay event follows the Monte Carlo Masters and is played alongside the Barcelona Open.
Defending champion Jan-Lennard Struff suffered a disappointing elimination in the early rounds. However, the top seeds are still in the race except Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime. On that note, let’s take a look at the top five title favourites in men’s singles at the Munich Open 2025.

5. Dedura-Palomero, Diego
17-year-old German youngster Dedura-Palomero, Diego, can also carve his name as the champion on his native soil. He had also recorded a few amazing victories in Munich, and he’s not very far from the title. He has so far defeated big names like Alexander Bublik (qualifying round) and Denis Shapovalov.
4. Yannick Hanfmann
Yannick Hanfmann is one of the unlikely candidates to excel in Munich, but the German tennis star can ace when it’s important. He has failed to put in credible performances in 2025 and has been knocked out in the first round of most tournaments.
However, his recent victory over the Miami Open champion Jakub Mensik has shown his willpower on the tennis court. Thus, fans can expect a turnaround from the 33-year-old.
3. Ugo Humbert
Ugo Humbert may finally get the breakthrough he’s been looking for over the past few years. The Frenchman comes up short on multiple occasions against different opponents.
However, he’s still in the hunt for a big win. With a win-loss record of 11-6 this year, the French player has won one title and is aiming to win another at the MTTC Iphitos.
2. Ben Shelton
Ben Shelton is one of the top favourites to win the clay title because of his powerful serves. The American tennis star has also taken a step ahead in doubles with the help of Indian veteran Rohan Bopanna. He will play his second match against Botic Van de Zandschulp of the Netherlands in Munich.
Shelton has had a poor run in recent matches as he suffered early exits at the Miami Open and the Monte Carlo Masters. He’s seeded second at the tournament.
1. Alexander Zverev

Alexander Zverev remains the favourite to win the Munich Open. A former champion of the Munich Open, the German tennis star suffered a disappointing second-round exit from the Monte Carlo Masters last week. However, he knows how to bounce back and win the title of a well-known tournament. The 2024 Roland Garros runner-up has won the tournament twice (2017-18).
