Fonseca Clinches Perfect 5-0 Run in Jeddah
Victory in Jeddah caps off a near perfect year for Fonseca, who earlier had also won the 2023 Junior US Open final against Tien. The Brazilian did not lose a match in Jeddah, finishing the tournament with a perfect 5-0 record, with two of those wins against Tien.
The tournament used the Fast4 format and didn’t award ATP ranking points, but it’s known to kickstart careers. Past winners include Grand Slam champs Carlos Alcaraz and current World No. #1 Jannik Sinner.
Both players in the final shone all week, beating higher-ranked guys like Arthur Fils, Jakub Mensik, and Alex Michelsen on their way to the title match. Rafael Nadal watched from the crowd as the next wave of tennis stars fought for one of the biggest paydays in up-and-coming tennis.
