Novak Djokovic failed to win a single Slam in 2025 season.

Novak Djokovic may have endured one of the toughest seasons of his illustrious career in 2025, finishing without a single Grand Slam title or a major trophy, but even in a year of setbacks, he still found a way to rewrite history.

Despite missing the ATP Finals due to a lingering shoulder injury, the 24-time Grand Slam champion is set to close the season ranked inside the Top 4, marking the 16th time in his career that he would have ended a year in that elite bracket.

With this milestone, Djokovic moves past Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, both of whom finished with 15 Top 4 year-end rankings.

Swiss legend Federer recorded his 15th and final Top 4 finish back in 2018, capping a run that included an extraordinary streak of 14 straight seasons inside the elite bracket and the year he reclaimed World No. 1 while winning his 20th major.

On the other hand, Nadal matched that total in 2019, finishing the season as the oldest World No. 1 at 33 recording an unmatched 912 consecutive weeks in the Top 10.

This season, though short on silverware, featured consistency from the 38-year-old. Djokovic reached the semi-finals of all four Grand Slams for the first time since 2017, despite converting those runs into summit clashes.

In New York, he became the oldest man ever to reach the quarter-finals of all four Majors in a single season, further extending the boundaries of longevity in the modern game.

Away from the Slams, Djokovic added several milestones to his multi-storied career, including his 100th career ATP title in Geneva and his 101st in Athens, bringing him closer to Jimmy Connors’ all-time record of 109.

However, his victory in Athens came with a cost. Djokovic battled through the final against Lorenzo Musetti while carrying a painful shoulder injury, later admitting that he had required strong medication just to complete the match.

Within hours of lifting the trophy, he announced his withdrawal from the ATP Finals, bringing an abrupt end to his season. Musetti, whom Djokovic defeated in the Athens final, took his place in Turin.

Why was Novak Djokovic’s 2025 season considered one of his toughest?

Because he finished the year without winning a Grand Slam or major title, and dealt with multiple injuries, including a shoulder issue that forced him out of the ATP Finals.

Why didn’t Novak Djokovic play ATP Finals 2025?

He withdrew due to a lingering shoulder injury, which worsened during the Athens final. He later revealed he had to play the match with strong medication.

Did Novak Djokovic win any title in 2025?

Yes, he won two ATP 250 titles—his 100th career title in Geneva and his 101st in Athens.

Who replaced Novak Djokovic at ATP Finals?

Lorenzo Musetti, whom Djokovic defeated in the Athens final, replaced him in the field.
