Novak Djokovic vs Cameron Norrie prediction, betting tips & odds, head-to-head, preview: US Open 2025

Novak Djokovic advanced to the third round in New York for the 19th time.

Novak Djokovic struggled to find his rhythm early in the second round contest against American qualifier Zachary Svajda. Yet, the 38-year-old Serbian did enough to pull through with a 6-7(5), 6-3, 6-3, 6-1 victory.

The four-time US Open champion was a break down in the third set when Svajda sought help for leg issues. The American, who defied his ranking of World No. 145 to challenge Djokovic, had to dial back his intensity, allowing the Serb to gain a foothold back into the match.

With the win, the No. 7 seed advances to the US Open third round for the 19th time, where he plays Britain’s Cameron Norrie. It will also be his 75th third-round appearance at a Grand Slam, surpassing Roger Federer’s tally of 74.

While Djokovic was busy on Arthur Ashe Stadium, Cameron Norrie battled through a four-hour slugfest against Argentine Francisco Comesana on Court 5. The 30-year-old survived three tie-breakers, including one in the final set en route to his 7-6(5), 6-3, 6-7(0), 7-6(4) victory over the 24-year-old Comesana.

Preview

Djokovic survived a gritty second-round match against unseeded Zachary Svajda for his 191st men’s singles win at a hard-court Grand Slam event. The hard-fought win keeps the Serb on track for a record 25th Grand Slam title.

The Serb enjoys a 6-0 head-to-head lead against his next opponent, Britain’s Cameron Norrie. The Johannesburg-born Norrie faced headwinds against Comesana after moving into the second round with a walkover from American Seb Korda.

Djokovic, who is seeded to play American Frances Tiafoe next, if he moves past Norrie, remains on a semi-final collision course with Carlos Alcaraz. Alcaraz breezed past Italian Mattia Bellucci 6-1, 6-0, 6-3 in just 96 minutes to ease into the third round, aided by 32 winners.

The Serb also looks set to renew his rivalry with Taylor Fritz in the last eight, armed with a 10-0 advantage over the American.

Match Prediction

Djokovic has opened his 2025 US Open campaign against Americans in back-to-back rounds. With wins over Learner Tien and Zachary Svajda, the Serb is 40-3 against Americans at Grand Slam events. The Serb will be facing off against Cameron Norrie for the first time in an outdoor hard court event in their scheduled third round match on Friday.

Whenever Djokovic and Norrie have clashed on tour, the results have not favoured the Englishman. The last match between Djokovic and Norrie at Roland Garros earlier this year ended with a 6-2, 6-3, 6-2 loss for the Brit. Norrie has ended up on the losing side in all six tour-level meetings and only twice has managed to take a set off the Serb.

Result: Djokovic will win in four sets.
