Novak Djokovic vs Hubert Hurkacz live streaming, TV channel, where & how to watch: Shanghai Masters 2026
Novak Djokovic leads the head-to-head against Hubert Hurkacz by 8-0
Novak Djokovic opens his Shanghai Masters 2026 campaign against a former champion. The 10th seed had a first-round bye and now faces Hubert Hurkacz, who won the title here in 2023. The Pole beat James Duckworth 6-3, 7-6(4) with 19 aces in 81 minutes.
Hurkacz has been in good form on the Asian swing, reaching the Chengdu final and the Beijing semi-finals. He retired in the second set against Alex de Minaur in Beijing after a thigh strain earlier in the week, but he moved well against Duckworth.
Djokovic arrives fresh from his seventh China Open title, his 102nd overall, which extended his Beijing record to 34-0. The 39-year-old has said that most of his matches this year have been a physical struggle. He needed medical timeouts and looked tired in the Beijing final.
A semi-final walkover and a retirement in the final reduced his time on court, but a ten-day Masters event is a big ask straight after a title week. Djokovic leads the head-to-head 8-0. Hurkacz has come close, most notably taking him to five sets at Wimbledon in 2023.
The match will turn on Hurkacz’s serve against Djokovic’s return. For an opening-round clash, the Serbian faces a tall challenge, and hence a shocking upset cannot be ruled out either, if he has not recovered from his long week in Beijing.
