Novak Djokovic vs Jannik Sinner prediction, betting tips & odds, head-to-head, preview: French Open 2025

Djokovic and Sinner to square off for the first time in Roland Garros.
Novak Djokovic has reached the last four at Roland Garros for the 13th time by defeating Alexander Zverev in four sets in Wednesday’s night session. The Serbian ended Zverev’s bid for a second successive French Open final when he chalked out a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 win. Sixth-seed Djokovic will take on top-seed Jannik Sinner in a record-extending 51st Grand Slam semi-final.
The 38-year-old Djokovic used the drop shot to good effect en route to his ninth career win over the German. The exquisite backhand crosscourt drop shot by Djokovic when he was trailing 3-4 and 0-15 in the opening set was just one of many the crowd got to witness. The victory came in three hours and 17 minutes for the former World No. #1.

Djokovic is back to his best after consecutive opening-round defeats at the beginning of the clay-court season. The World No #6 is fresh from winning his 100th tour-level title in Geneva and is on an uninterrupted nine-match winning streak. Djokovic struck 42 winners and converted four of eight breakpoints for the win.
Jannik Sinner outclassed Alexander Bublik 6-1, 7-5, 6–0 to return to the semi-finals a day after Bublik became the first Kazakh to make the singles quarter-finals at a Grand Slam.
It was another clinical display by the Italian, who is yet to drop a set, as he wrapped up the result in his favour in one hour and 49 minutes. Thirty-seven unforced errors coupled with six double faults dented Bublik’s chances of making the last four.

Preview
Djokovic made amends for his retirement against Zverev in the Australian Open semi-finals in January. The Serb remains in pursuit of his first major title since taking the 2023 US Open title, also his 24th Grand Slam win. Djokovic dropped his first set of the tournament against Zverev but rallied to counter Zverev’s heavy groundstrokes by taking the pace off the returns.
The 23-year-old Sinner has extended his winning streak at Slams to 19 after defeating Bublik on Wednesday. The Italian has not lost at a major since the 2024 US Open, moving ahead of Mats Wilander, Boris Becker and Andre Agassi, who have recorded an uninterrupted run of 18 wins.

Sinner remains in contention to become the first Italian male champion at Roland Garros since Adriano Panatta in 1976. A title run in Paris would ensure the Italian wins his third consecutive Grand Slam final. The top seed became the first Italian man in history to reach six major semi-finals when he ended Alexander Bublik’s run at the French Open.
Sinner joins compatriot Lorenzo Musetti in the last four, making it the first time in the Open Era two Italian men find themselves in the semi-finals of the same Grand Slam event.

Match Prediction
Sinner winning all three matches against the Serb since the Davis Cup semi-final tie in 2023. The Italian was trailing 1-4 in their head-to-head at that point.
Djokovic, with an emphatic victory over Zverev in the last eight, has shown he still has what it takes to win on the big stage. The Serb is one of two players, alongside Carlos Alcaraz, who can spoil Sinner’s party. Djokovic, already among the sport’s greatest individuals, is on the brink of solidifying his legacy further.
Yet Sinner poses a significant threat to Djokovic’s aspirations ahead of their ninth head-to-head and popcorn-worthy showdown. It would not be wise to count out Djokovic on account of his famed resilience and tactical prowess. At stake for Djokovic is his first title-round appearance since Wimbledon in 2024.
Expect a long bruiser of a battle, with the result going in the Serb’s favour.
Result: Novak Djokovic to win in four sets.
