Novak Djokovic entered the WWE stage wearing a wolf mask.

Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic‘s week in New York was already a busy one before he stepped into Madison Square Garden on Saturday night.

The 39-year-old has been in the city since Wednesday for the premiere of his Prime Video documentary “The Wolf in Winter” at the Museum of Modern Art, and now made a surprise appearance at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, marking his first involvement with professional wrestling and attracting considerable buzz on social media.

The 45th edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event returned to MSG for the first time in nearly 20 years, held at the Javits Center.

The event was broadcast live on Peacock in the United States and Netflix internationally, headlined by a tag team match pitting Undisputed WWE Champion CM Punk and Cody Rhodes against Gunther and Sami Zayn, with NBA Finals MVP Jalen Brunson joining World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns in a packed Madison Square Garden crowd.

Djokovic, who had been present at Fanatics Fest throughout the weekend alongside the likes of Tom Brady, Serena Williams, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, crossed town to the Garden and made what WWE hailed as a special celebrity appearance.

The Serbian has been in New York for a week and was spotted with figures from across sport and entertainment, ranging from sitting alongside FIFA president Gianni Infantino at the MoMA premiere to appearing on a live taping of Kevin Hart’s Cold As Balls podcast at Fanatics Fest on Saturday.

The WWE appearance reinforced Djokovic’s profile as one of the most recognisable sports figures on the planet, regardless of which arena he walks into.

Up next, the 24-time Grand Slam champion might potentially be seen in the stands during the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026 final between Argentina and Spain.
