Stan Wawrinka won men’s doubles gold alongside Roger Federer at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Three-time Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka recently took to social media and uploaded a few pictures from his previous Olympic campaign ahead of Paris Olympics 2024.
Wawrinka will play his last Olympics at the Paris 2024. He is Switzerland’s sole representative in the tennis men’s singles event. Apart from the 39-year-old, Switzerland’s Viktorija Golubic will compete in the women’s singles event.
The three-time Grand Slam champion is also a former Olympic medalist. He teamed up with Roger Federer to play doubles at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. They defeated the Swedish pair of Simon Aspelin and Thomas Johansson in four sets to win the prestigious gold medal.
Meanwhile, Wawrinka’s best finish in the singles event came in 2012, when he reached the second round. The 39-year-old didn’t play at the 2016 and 2020 Olympics. However, he has earned an ITF entry into the 2024 Paris Olympics.

A few days before the sporting mega fest, the 2014 Australian Open champion took to social media and revisited his Olympic memories. He shared a few pictures from his gold medal-winning campaign at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Wawrinka also shared a picture from the 2012 London Olympics, where he was the flagbearer of Switzerland at the Games. He captioned the post, “Can’t wait to be part of the @swissteam again at the @Olympics Paris 2024”.
Wawrinka hasn’t been in his best form lately. At the 2024 French Open, he was eliminated in the first round by arch-rival Andy Murray, who’s also playing his last Olympic campaign. Murray has announced that he would retire from professional tennis after the Paris Games. A special ceremony was also held at the All England Lawn Tennis Club for the Scotsman’s farewell.
At the 2024 Wimbledon Championships, Wawrinka suffered a second-round loss against France’s Gael Monfils, who will also play his final Olympic campaign in Paris in front of the home crowd. At the Swiss Open, he suffered another first-round loss against Slovakia’s Lucas Klein. However, tennis enthusiasts will hope that the 39-year-old gets a delightful farewell in the French capital.
