Paula Badosa is yet to be in action since Wimbledon heartbreak.
Paula Badosa, struggling with injuries since her early exit at Wimbledon 2025, has decided to withdraw from the final Grand Slam of the year, the US Open.
The 27-year-old Spaniard lost in the first round at the All England Club to Britain’s Katie Boulter 2–6, 6–3, 4–6 and has not competed since. She missed the Washington Open, Canadian Open, and Cincinnati Open, and was expected to return at Flushing Meadows before announcing her withdrawal.
The U.S. Tennis Association confirmed that Swiss player Jil Teichmann will take her place in the women’s singles draw.
If another player pulls out in the women’s category, then the 36-year-old Alize Cornet who retired last year but is returning this season would be next in line to enter the event.
Badosa kicked off the 2025 season in strong form, reaching the Australian Open semi-finals before falling to world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka, 4–6, 2–6. She advanced to the third round at Roland Garros, where she was defeated by Daria Kasatkina, 6–1, 7–5.
