Paula Badosa vs Xinyu Wang prediction, betting tips & odds, head-to-head, preview: Berlin Open 2025

Badosa and Wang will clash for the second time this season.
Paula Badosa took on Emma Navarro for a place in the last eight in Berlin. Badosa is not a regular face in the grass court season, and she is playing in Berlin for the first time. She was a quarter-finalist in Bad Homburg last season, her debut at the venue.
Navarro, a quarter-finalist at Queen’s has had better luck on grass than Badosa, reaching the last eight at SW19 in 2024 and is a two-time semi-finalist on the grass courts of Bad Homburg.
In their first face-off on grass, it was Badosa who prevailed over Navarro with a 7-6 (2), 6-3 win to secure a spot in the quarter-finals of the WTA 500 Berlin 2025. Badosa edged ahead of Navarro, 2-1, in their head-to-head after the victory.
Badosa’s rival will be China’s Xinyu Wang, who was the surprise winner on Thursday against Coco Gauff. Wang handed the American a 6-3, 6-3 defeat in the second round in one hour and 15 minutes. Gauff gifted the match to 49th-ranked Wang when she made 25 unforced errors and seven double faults. The Chinese woman played a tidy game, hitting 16 winners for only 12 unforced errors.
The 23-year-old Wang came through qualifying and had registered wins over Daria Kasatkina and 2022 Berlin Open winner Ons Jabeur to set up the clash with Gauff.

Preview
Xinyu Wang will play her first quarter-final at the Berlin Open. She reached the last eight at the WTA 500 event by ending Coco Gauff’s seven-match winning streak that began in Paris.
It was a surprising loss by Gauff, who reached the semi-final at this venue in 2022. The unseeded Wang’s unexpected victory now leaves Gauff with insufficient practice on grass ahead of Wimbledon. The American has never made it past the fourth round at SW19.
Wang reached the last eight in events at Singapore (WTA 250) and Parma (WTA 125), making this her first last-eight appearance this season at a WTA 500 event.
Badosa, for her part, eliminated German Eva Lys in the first round, followed by a win over American Emma Navarro. The Spaniard achieved both those wins in straight sets and is the highest seed in the draw’s bottom half following Jessica Pegula’s second-round exit.

Match prediction
Wang secured her third career top-10 win by taking out an off-colour Coco Gauff in the second round of the Berlin Open. Gauff’s title run in Paris mattered little in Berlin and could not save her from defeat at the hands of the Chinese player. Wang’s victory over Jessica Pegula at last year’s Wimbledon underscores the threat she poses on grass.
When not held back by injuries, Badosa can be a tough contender and a noteworthy opponent. The eighth seed is a better server than Gauff, and this will aid Badosa in opening up an edge match-up with Wang. China’s Wang will be playing her first quarter-final on grass, a factor that is likely to tilt the match in favour of Badosa.
Result: Paula Badosa to win in straight sets
