Andy Roddick goes Hollywood! Tennis player to star in pickleball comedy 'The Dink' by Ben Stiller

Andy Roddick will swap microphone for Hollywood role along with A-listers Ben Stiller and Ed Harris.
Andy Roddick, who hosts the popular podcast “Served with Andy Roddick,” on Spotify, will make the transition to the silver screen with “The Dink,” a comedy about a washed-up tennis professional who decides to give pickleball a try. A fortnight ago, Roddick hosted four-time Grand Slam titlist Kim Clijsters as they unpacked the 2024 US Open results.
With pickleball surging in popularity, it was only a matter of time before the sport became the subject of a Hollywood movie. Roddick, a former World No. #1 and the last American to win the US Open – a feat achieved in 2003, has been roped in to appear in the film. Roddick has his role under wraps at the moment.
The movie stars Jake Johnson, whose claim to fame is the TV series New Girl, as the former tennis pro. Also starring are Mary Steenburgen (Orange Is the New Black, Grace and Frankie), Ben Stiller (Tropic Thunder, Tower Heist) and Ed Harris (Westworld, Top Gun: Maverick).

Stiller, 58, has also produced the movie. He was last seen in the 2024 movie Nutcrackers. Stiller plays a workaholic who finds himself in rural Ohio, taking care of his four nephews after they are orphaned. The actor, a New York Knicks fan, also had a role in the 2004 film, “Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story.”
Andy Roddick will walk onto a pickleball court with 2014 Wimbledon finalist Eugenie Bouchard for company at the Pickleball Slam in 2025. The third edition of the Pickleball Slam, dubbed “The Duel In The Desert,” will witness Roddick and Bouchard take on defending champions and husband-wife duo Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf. On the line is a $1 million purse.
On this occasion, Roddick and Agassi, who paired up to win the inaugural edition of the Pickleball Slam, will find themselves on opposite sides of the net. Action in the latest iteration of The Pickleball Slam will unfold at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas on Sunday, February 16, 2025, and will air on ESPN.
Agassi and Roddick met six times on the ATP Tour, with Agassi leading 5-1. Now, the duo will continue their rivalry, the venue changing from the tennis courts of the world to the latest craze – the pickleball court.
