Donna Vekic has become the first-ever female player to win the Queen’s Club as a lucky loser

History was created by Donna Vekic, as she beat Emma Raducanu in dominant style to win her maiden Queen’s Club Championships 2026 trophy.

It has been tough going for the Croatian, who lost her way after 2024 due to injuries and poor form. She left the top-100 rankings, and was compelled to compete in qualifiers and challenger events.

The 29-year-old finally reaped rewards for her hard work, winning the biggest title of her career in London. Vekic defeated the Brit in straight sets, including a bagel in the opening set. To do so, as a lucky loser (she lost in Q2), is an exceptional feat, and a testimony to Vekic’s resilience and determination.

Raducanu can be proud of her effort on home soil, as she beat top players like Sorana Cirstea and Iva Jovic on her path to the final. The former US Open champion will hope to secure a deep run at the upcoming Wimbledon Championships.

Earlier, several upsets rocked the competition, with Elena Rybakina’s elimination being the most shocking one.

The Kazakh had to play two rounds on the same day due to a rain-marred schedule, and she ran out of gas in the end against Katie Boulter.

Following their heroics, both Vekic and Raducanu are now likely to enter Wimbledon as seeded players. On that note, check the breakdown of the prize money by round for singles and doubles below.
