A star-studded field is set to descend on the revamped WTA 500 Singapore Open 2026. The event was upgraded after returning to the calendar as a WTA 250 last season.
The Singapore Open forms part of the WTA’s Asian swing, alongside the Korean Open and the WTA 1000 events in Beijing and Wuhan. The WTA season moves to Singapore’s OCBC Arena as the season winds down.
Following US Open semi-finalist Jessica Pegula’s withdrawal, Mirra Andreeva heads the field as the top seed, with Amanda Anisimova, Alexandra Eala and Elise Mertens completing the top four. All four top seeds have received opening-round byes.
Diana Shnaider, Sorana Cîrstea, Sara Bejlek, Clara Tauson and Ekaterina Alexandrova have joined the exodus from the WTA 500 event. Pegula reached the US Open semi-finals for the second consecutive year in New York and climbed to a career-high World Ranking of No. 3.
Andreeva and Mertens headline the top half of the draw and are seeded to meet in the semi-finals. Their semis clash could be preceded by the third face-off between Andreeva and Fernandez this season and their fifth overall.
Anisimova and Eala occupy the top two seeded positions in the bottom half. Anisimova’s 1-0 head-to-head lead gives her the edge, but Eala has shown she can push the American and make the contest competitive.
Fifth seed Maja Chwalińska also features in Andreeva’s section of the draw, while Maria Sakkari and Donna Vekić add further depth to the bottom half of a competitive field.
