Twenty-time Grand Slam champion, Roger Federer, hints at possible return to tennis court.

It would appear Roger Federer is not quite done with tennis as he is keen to experience some on-court action. In what is welcome news for his fans, the Swiss Maestro, who retired after the 2022 Laver Cup, could appear for exhibition matches.

In an interview with French sports publication, L’Équipe, on the sidelines of the Augusta Masters, Federer spoke about his desire to participate at exhibition events in the near future. Federer’s last ATP event was Wimbledon in 2021, an event he won eight times.

Resuming training sessions are among the more immediate of Federer’s goals. Given his stature in the sport, that is an acceptable goal.

Though retired, Federer often turns up as a spectator courtside. Recently, he was spotted along with his wife, Mirka, soaking up the Monaco sun. Mixing business with pleasure, Federer was on hand to launch an eyewear collection bearing his name in collaboration with premium optician Oliver Peoples.

The former World No. #1 shared generous glimpses of his trip to Monte Carlo on his official Instagram handle. The post was captioned “Springtime in Monaco.”

Roger Federer was spotted rubbing shoulders with Caroline Wozniacki in Augusta, Georgia, the host city of the Augusta Masters. Wozniacki recently announced that she was stepping back from competitive tennis as she is expecting a third child with her husband and former basketball player, David Lee.

The reactions to the announcement regarding Federer’s return to tennis were on predictable lines. Fans wanted to see Federer take on Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz in an exhibition event. Others were hopeful of watching Rafael Nadal, Juan Martín del Potro, and Andy Murray take on the Swiss maestro. Among the ideas put forward were a “Legends Slam” and a wildcard for the champ at Wimbledon.

There remains keen interest in watching Federer play, and for now, the ball is in his court.
