Rohan Bopanna has lost five out of the six matches he has played this season.

Indian tennis icon Rohan Bopanna is reportedly set to partner with Ben Shelton at the upcoming 2025 Monte Carlo Masters. The 22-year-old USA star suffered a shocking defeat to Hong Kong’s Coleman Wong in the Round of 64 in the men’s singles event at the Miami Open.

Shelton also bowed out in the first round of the men’s doubles event at the Miami Open, where he teamed up with countryman Alex Michelsen. Before teaming up with Ben Shelton, Michelson also teamed up with Australia’s Rinky Hijikata at the Dallas Open, but the duo lost in the quarterfinals.

Still trying to settle his feet in the doubles division, the 22-year-old is set to shake hands with Indian veteran and two-time Grand Slam champion Rohan Bopanna. Shelton has failed to win any of his two doubles matches this season and is currently ranked #108.

Meanwhile, Bopanna has played alongside multiple players since last year’s ATP Finals. The 45-year-old teamed up with Australia’s Matthew Ebden for the last time during the ATP Finals, where they suffered a first-round exit. He teamed up with Nicolás Barrientos at the Adelaide International and the Australian Open, losing in the first round on both occasions.

He then shifted to Nuno Borges and got off to a blazing start with a win over the Italian duo of Andrea Vavassori and Simone Bolelli. However, they lost to Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool in the very next round. The Brit duo of Cash and Glasspool haunted Bopanna at the Dubai Tennis Championships too, where the Indian icon teamed up with former doubles World No. #1 Ivan Dodig.

Dutchman Demi Schuurs partnered with Bopanna at the Indian Wells Masters, but they fell face-first in the opening round. A similar pattern of first-round exits continued at the Miami Open, too. However, the 45-year-old would positively look forward to breaking the unlucky streak, as he will team up with one of the best servers on the tour.

However, Shelton has performed well in singles. Earlier this year, the American tennis star reached the semi-finals of the 2025 Australian Open, where he lost to top seed and eventual champion Jannik Sinner. He also reached the quarterfinals at the Indian Wells Masters, but his campaign ended against Jack Draper.
