Stan Wawrinka has been mighty impressive in his farewell year at the ATP tour. After a tough 2025 season, where the Swiss legend struggled for wins and momentum, he is now rolling back the clock and providing the perfect flourish to what has been an illustrious career so far.
He impressed at the Australian Open, reaching the third round and providing a tough fight against Taylor Fritz. The Swiss legend recently created another special record after starting his Dubai Open 2026 campaign with a victory over Benjamin Hassan.
This win elevated Wawrinkaโs ranking points, helping him once again burst into the top-100 rankings. He became the second oldest ever to accomplish this feat, holding this joint-record alongside fellow Swiss counterpart and 20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer.
Ken Rosewall tops the list, achieving this milestone when he was nearly 45 years old. Apart from Wawrinka, the only other active male player in this list is Gael Monfils.
The Frenchman too is playing his last year and continues to be a source of entertainment playing a flashy brand of tennis which captivates fans across the world. He reached the top-10 when he was 39, however currently finds himself outside the top-140 due to inconsistent performances.
This makes Wawrinkaโs recent returns even more impressive. The Swiss icon failed to advance further in Dubai after being defeated in a one-sided encounter against former US Open champion Daniil Medvedev. The Russian has been in sensational form and has reached the finals where he will meet Tallon Griekspoor.
Ahead of the Sunshine Double, Wawrinka finds himself on the #92 spot of the ATP ranking charts.
