Stefanos Tsitsipas was spotted celebrating his triumph alongside new girlfriend Kristen Thoms.
Stefanos Tsitsipas ended a 16-month title drought on July 19 by defeating Belgium’s Raphael Collignon 6-4, 6-7(3), 6-3 in the Swiss Open Gstaad final, and the celebrations that followed told a story about more than just tennis.
The Greek was seen embracing girlfriend Kristen Thoms courtside at the Roy Emerson Arena shortly after the win, a moment that caught considerable attention given the timing. Coincidentally, that same afternoon, his ex-partner Paula Badosa was also playing in the WTA 250 final in Iași, Romania.
The final, which helped the Greek tennis player win his first title after 16 months, was far from straightforward.
Tsitsipas dropped the second set in a tiebreak, after Collignon broke early and refused to let the match run away from him. However, the Belgian faded visibly in the third, and Tsitsipas seized on it immediately, winning 12 consecutive points through the middle of the set to put the result beyond doubt.
“It’s a crazy feeling right now, I survived the marathon,” he said during the winning ceremony. “It was a long week. I played some crazy matches in the last couple of days.”
This was his 13th ATP title and also an historic one as he became the first Greek player to win the Gstaad title. Moreover, the victory will lift him 30 places in the ATP Rankings to World No. 55, his highest ranking since April. He arrived in Switzerland ranked 85th, carrying a 17-15 record for the season and just three tour-level wins since May.
Kristen Thoms, a 28-year-old former collegiate tennis player turned model and content creator, went public about her relationship with Tsitsipas in January, when they featured in a travel vlog from Namibia.
The relationship follows his well-documented split from Badosa last July, which she confirmed publicly on her birthday by wearing a sash that read “Sexy and single.” Since May 2023, they had an on-and-off relationship; they even separated for a while in 2024, but eventually, they parted ways for good.
After a series of poor performances, Tsitsipas will be happy to have found his rhythm once again. He will be back in action at the ATP 1000 Canadian Open, which begins on August 1.
