Top five title favourites in women's singles at Wimbledon 2025

Aryna Sabalenka remains the favourite to win the Wimbledon 2025 title.
Since Serena Williams successfully defended her title in 2016, Wimbledon has crowned eight different champions in the women’s singles, becoming the most unpredictable tennis event in recent years.
As the spotlight now shifts to the Wimbledon 2025, women’s singles will have no certain title favourite, but here we look at the top five top contenders for the title.
5. Elena Rybakina

Elena Rybakina has been the best player on grass on the women’s circuit over the last three years, which was further highlighted during her Wimbledon 2022 triumph and 2024 semifinal campaign. Due to lack of consistency in performance, Rybakina has been able to win only one Grand Slam.
Elena’s career was best summarized in the Berlin 2025 quarterfinal clash against Sabalenka, where she completely dominated the Belarusian throughout the match and had four match points in the tiebreaker but somehow fell short.
World No. 11 Rybakina will enter the Championship as a hot favorite despite her average recent form, for her hard-hitting ruthlessness and precision when on song.
4. Qinwen Zheng

An underdog for Wimbledon 2025 is Qinwen Zheng, who has all the tools to flourish on grass. After a first-round loss to qualifier Lulu Sun last year, the Chinese will be under no pressure and is currently ranked in the top-5, a sign of her good recent form.
Zheng reached the semi-finals of the Queen’s Club Championships and will be one to watch at the All England Club, thereby upholding Wimbledon’s tradition of delivering unexpected champions.
3. Marketa Vondrousova

Marketa Vondrousova missed nearly the entirety of the first half of the season and suffered a third-round defeat to Jessica Pegula. The Czech showed signs of returning to form as she overtook the American despite trailing in the end. However, the Wimbledon 2023 champion found her homecoming to grass pleasant, as she won her first ever title since her Wimbledon triumph at the Berlin Open.
Vondrousova will enter SW19 as an unseeded player, but could be the most feared opponent on grass currently. The Czech is ranked inside the 70s, and could be drawn against any player for the Championship, which would mean her path to glory will be far from easy.
However, in her latest glory run in Berlin, Vondrousova overcame 7th seed Keys, 12th seed Shnaider, 2023 Wimbledon finalist Jabeur and top ranked Sabalenka, before prevailing over Wang Xinyu in the finals, signalling that she can beat anyone and anybody on her day.
2. Jasmine Paolini

2024 Wimbledon finalist Jasmine Paolini could potentially be in for redemption this year. The Italian continues to remain in the top-10 rankings.
Despite an opening round loss at Queens, she won the doubles final, which helped her adjust to the rapid change and understand the conditions better. Paolini, with her quick footwork and athleticism on court, could be slated to continue the tradition of a new winner being crowned every year.
1. Aryna Sabalenka

Aryna Sabalenka has never won a WTA title on grass or reached a Wimbledon final in the past, but that does not prevent her from being a frontrunner for the title. Despite her loss to Vondrousova in the Berlin semis, the Belarusian will take confidence from her win over Rybakina, when she seemed to be staring at the barrel.
The top seed has been in incredible form in 2025, reaching the finals of both Grand Slam majors and winning three titles out of the five other finals she featured in.
After suffering two consecutive heartbreaks in Grand Slam finals, Sabalenka would hope to make amends by clinching the most prestigious trophy at the All England Club.
