Which tournaments will Jannik Sinner miss due to doping ban?

Sinner will return for the French Open as his suspension ends in May.
World No. #1 Jannik Sinner has been handed a three-month suspension after testing positive for clostebol, a banned substance under the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) regulations. The ban, running from February 9 to May 4, will rule him out of key tournaments in the first half of the season.
Sinner’s positive test dates back to March 2024, when traces of clostebol were found in his system. The 23-year-old has maintained that he did not knowingly take the substance and that it entered his body through a treatment prescribed by his physiotherapist.
Initially, an independent panel ruled in August 2024 that Sinner bore no significant fault or negligence, clearing him of a formal suspension. However, WADA challenged the ruling, leading to a settlement that resulted in the current three-month ban.
As of now, there is no public statement from Jannik Sinner regarding his three-month suspension for testing positive for clostebol. WADA has acknowledged that Sinner did not intend to cheat, and that the substance did not enhance his performance.
Tournaments Jannik Sinner will miss due to ban
Qatar Open (ATP 250) – February
One of the key ATP 250 events before the Sunshine Double. Sinner has never won this tournament, but it serves as an important warm-up for the bigger events in March.
Indian Wells Masters (ATP 1000) – March
Often called the ‘fifth Grand Slam,’ this is one of the most prestigious non-Slam events on the calendar. Sinner reached the final in 2024 but lost to Carlos Alcaraz, making his absence here a major setback for his ranking.

Monte Carlo Masters (ATP 1000) – April
The first major tournament of the clay-court season, known for its challenging conditions. Sinner has never won here but reached the semifinals in 2024.
Bavarian Open (ATP 250) – April 14-20
A smaller but significant tournament on clay, often used as a stepping-stone before bigger events in Madrid and Rome.
Madrid Open (ATP 1000) – April-May

Sinner’s career highlights so far
For Sinner, this suspension is a setback but not a career-defining moment. At 23, he still has years ahead to cement his legacy. Despite this setback, Sinner has already established himself as one of the top players in the world. He won his first Grand Slam title at the 2024 Australian Open, becoming the first Italian man to do so in the Open Era. He has also won the US Open 2024, his second grand slam.
His rise to World No. #1 in 2024 marked a historic moment for Italian tennis. Sinner has also captured multiple ATP 1000 titles, including the Miami Open in 2024 and the Canadian Open in 2023. In 2023, he led Italy to victory in the Davis Cup, playing a key role in securing their first title since 1976.
His head-to-head record against top-ranked players has been impressive, with notable wins over Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz, and Daniil Medvedev. Sinner has over 10 ATP titles to his name.
Jannik Sinner’s suspension forces him to miss important events, but given his achievements, he is expected to remain one of the top favorites for Roland Garros and Wimbledon upon his return.
