Defending champion and two-time winner in Beijing, Jannik Sinner will not be defending his title at the 2026 edition. The World No. 1 has been sidelined with a knee injury since defending his Wimbledon title in July and has missed out on the entire North American hard-court swing.
World No. 1 Elena Rybakina will make her first appearance at the WTA 1000 women’s singles draw since winning the US Open.
All four US Open semifinalists except Jessica Pegula are set to make their first tour appearances since their runs in New York. Fresh off her third Grand Slam title, Elena Rybakina leads the field, joined by Aryna Sabalenka and Coco Gauff as the top three seeds.
Jessica Pegula, the WTA No. 3 and defending champion Amanda Anisimova will not play in Beijing. World No. 11 Anisimova withdrew due to a wrist injury, while Pegula withdrew with an unspecified injury.
Three former champions are in the women’s singles draw: Coco Gauff (2024), Iga Swiatek (2023) and Naomi Osaka (2019). Gauff has been a consistent performer in Beijing, reaching the last four for the last three editions, including her 2024 title run.
