Novak Djokovic withdrew from the Canadian Open and the Cincinnati Masters.

The 2024 US Open is scheduled from August 26 to September 8. However, defending champion Novak Djokovic, is nowhere to be seen.

The Serbian tennis star, who won bronze at the 2008 Beijing Games, completed his desire to win Olympic gold earlier this month at Stade Roland Garros. He defeated Carlos Alcaraz in the gold medal match to win the prestigious accolade.

However, since then, the Serb has missed two ATP 1000 Masters: the Canadian Open and the Cincinnati Masters. This withdrawal from both events has made the tennis world doubt his participation in the upcoming 2024 US Open.

This season, the Serb failed to defend his title at the Australian Open and Roland Garros. Additionally, he suffered a straight-set loss in two hours and 28 minutes to Carlos Alcaraz in the final of the Wimbledon Championships. He also played in the ATP 250 Geneva Open, where he lost to Tomas Machac of Czechia in the semifinals.

The Serb has played only one final (outside the Olympics) this year and has failed to win any title. Recently, he uploaded a video on his official Instagram account, where he can be seen cycling alongside his wife, Jelena Djokovic. She uploaded a post on her Instagram account with the Serb.

Thus, it’s fair to say that Novak Djokovic has recovered from the meniscus surgery on his right knee, which took place in June, earlier this year. Moreover, Djokovic is set to enter his title defense at the US Open without any prior hard-court experience before the tournament.

However, the Winston-Salem Open will take place a week before the US Open, but the Serb’s name is not on the list. Nevertheless, he can still enter the tournament, just like he did in Geneva, as the top seed.

Novak Djokovic is a four-time US Open champion and has enough experience playing at Flushing Meadows. However, every year, the competition gets tougher at the tournament. Similarly, after playing no matches on grass ahead of the 2024 Wimbledon, he managed to reach the final.

As far as Novak Djokovic’s participation is concerned, the Serb will play at the 2024 US Open.
