Jannik Sinner had activated his record breaking mode since the start of the 2024 season. After his quarterfinal win at US Open 2024, Sinner has become the fourth active male player to reach the semi-finals of all four grand slams. He defeated Daniil Medvedev in four sets at Flushing Meadows to complete the milestone.
Sinner and Medvedev were clashing for the third time in a grand slam in 2024. They had earlier played during the final of the Australian Open where the Italian prevailed. Their next meeting was in the quarterfinals of Wimbledon where the Russian avenged his defeat in five sets. This time, their encounter did not go till the decider as Sinner completed the match in four sets.
The 23-year-old made his grand slam debut in 2019 at the US Open and reached his first grand slam semi- finals at Wimbledon in 2023. Sinner reached the French Open semi-finals for the first time in 2024 and has been improving his track record at each event over the past nine months.
Sinner has shown his proficiency in all three surfaces on the ATP tour. His groundstrokes have caused trouble to the opponents regardless of whether it is on clay, grass or hardcourts. Sinner’s performance at all four grand slams in 2024 have proved his ability to not only adjust but master different surfaces.
