Jannik Sinner achieved the feat during US Open 2024.

Jannik Sinner had activated his record breaking mode since the start of the 2024 season. After his quarterfinal win at US Open 2024, Sinner has become the fourth active male player to reach the semi-finals of all four grand slams. He defeated Daniil Medvedev in four sets at Flushing Meadows to complete the milestone.

Sinner and Medvedev were clashing for the third time in a grand slam in 2024. They had earlier played during the final of the Australian Open where the Italian prevailed. Their next meeting was in the quarterfinals of Wimbledon where the Russian avenged his defeat in five sets. This time, their encounter did not go till the decider as Sinner completed the match in four sets.

The 23-year-old made his grand slam debut in 2019 at the US Open and reached his first grand slam semi- finals at Wimbledon in 2023. Sinner reached the French Open semi-finals for the first time in 2024 and has been improving his track record at each event over the past nine months.

Sinner has shown his proficiency in all three surfaces on the ATP tour. His groundstrokes have caused trouble to the opponents regardless of whether it is on clay, grass or hardcourts. Sinner’s performance at all four grand slams in 2024 have proved his ability to not only adjust but master different surfaces.

Who are the active male players before Jannik Sinner to reach the semi-finals of all grand slams?

Only three active male players before Jannik Sinner have managed to reach the semi-finals of all grand slams. Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Marin Cilic are the ones to complete the feat before the Italian.

Djokovic achieved the feat while winning the Australian Open in 2008. He was 20 years old meanwhile Nadal also did the same in 2008 while reaching the semi-finals of the US Open. The Spaniard was 22 years old at the time. Cilic was 33 years old when he recorded the feat in 2022 during the French Open.

Sinner will now aim to enter his second grand slam final of the 2024 season. He is one win away from entering the final at New York and has already strengthened his position on top of the rankings.
