Jasmine Paolini has played in two Grand Slam singles finals this year.

Two-time singles Grand Slam runner-up Jasmine Paolini has arrived in New York ahead of US Open 2024.

Paolini, who struggled to stay in the top 50 of women’s singles ranking a year ago, will be seeded fifth at this edition’s US Open. The Italian tennis star has enjoyed a stellar campaign this season and she’d be aiming to end it on a similar note.

Paolini started the year by reaching the fourth round of Australian Open 2024, where he lost to Russia’s Anna Kalinskaya. However, the Italian tennis star completed redemption over Kalinskaya by defeating her in the final of the Dubai Tennis Championships in a three-set thriller.

She later teamed up with compatriot Sara Errani to win the women’s doubles title at the 2024 Madrid Open. At 2024 Roland Garros, she defeated fourth seed Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan to enter the semifinals. In the semifinals, she outclassed Russian prodigy Mirra Andreeva to reach her first-ever Grand Slam final.

However, the clay court Major turned out sore for the Italian as she came up short in the finals of women’s singles as well as doubles events. She lost to Iga Swiatek in the women’s singles final, while Paolini & Errani lost to Coco Gauff and Katerina Siniakova in the doubles event.

Seeded seventh at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships, Jasmine Paolini defeated the likes of Madison Keys, Emma Navarro, and Donna Vekic to reach the final. In the summit clash, she faced Barbora Krejcikova of Czechia. Sadly, the match also ended in heartbreak for Paolini, as she lost 6-2, 2-6, 6-4.

Nevertheless, she again teamed up with Italian veteran Jessica Pegula to win gold at the women’s doubles event of the 2024 Paris Olympics. They defeated Mirra Andreeva and Diana Shnaider in the gold medal match. She lost to Andreeva in the third round of the Cincinnati Open, her first event after the Paris Olympics.

Despite the disappointing result, she moved to New York, where she will start her preparations for the 2024 US Open. Paolini’s performance at the Grand Slams has been exceptional this year. Thus, tennis enthusiasts are forward to watching the 28-year-old play at Flushing Meadows.
