Jessica Pegula vs Karolina Muchova Highlights, US Open 2024 Semifinals: Jessica Pegula enters maiden Slam final
Hello and welcome to Khel Now’s live blog for Jessica Pegula vs Karolina Muchova semi-final match in US Open 2024. Please wait for the blog load.
The cycle of upsets doesn’t seem to end at the US Open 2024. World number #1 Iga Swiatek was the latest to be stunned in the quarter-final contest against Jessica Pegula, ending the Polish’s hopes for a second Grand Slam in the calendar year.
After a dominant run in the tournament, Swiatek lost in straight sets to the American due to inconsistency and plenty of unforced errors. It was an underwhelming season for the top seed as she faced disappointments at the Paris Olympics 2024, Wimbledon and now at US Open. She hasn’t won a non-clay Grand Slam since 2022 despite remaining at the pole position for more than two years.
This result now presents Aryna Sabalenka with a prime opportunity to secure her first US Open title, as she is the only Grand Slam champion left in the field. To claim the title, Sabalenka must first overcome Emma Navarro in the semifinals. Should she succeed, she will face the winner of the match between Jessica Pegula and Karolina Muchova in the final.

Jessica Pegula vs Karolina Muchova match preview
The two players had competed against each other at the Cincinnati Open, just a couple of weeks prior to the start of the US Open. Pegula defeated the Czech in a hard-fought three set battle. Both the semi-finalists have had to contend with the challenges thrown their way, but they have managed to fight hard.
Karolina Muchova lost her second round in Cincinnati. However, the Czech has defied expectations to reach the top four in New York. She faced a tough draw, coming up against four-time Grand Slam winner Naomi Osaka in the second round. Muchova beat the Japanese in straight sets and went on to defeat Roland Garros and Wimbledon finalist Jasmine Paolini along with 22nd seed Haddad Maia.

Jessica Pegula, who is seeded fifth, faced a relatively straightforward draw initially before taking on Diana Shnaider in the fourth round, who she beat comfortably. The American then pulled off a massive upset against the reigning French Open champion Iga Swiatek.
Both players have never played a singles US Open final previously and hence one of the two will script history at the iconic Arthur Ashe Stadium.
