The US Open 2024 doubles main draw matches will begin from 28 August.

The US Open 2024, tennis’s final major of the year, is set to start on August 26 in New York. Singles matches kick off first, with doubles beginning two days later. Indian players will compete in both men’s singles and doubles events.

Following a lackluster performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics, India’s tennis stars are eager to make their mark at Flushing Meadows. The tournament, held at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, offers a chance for redemption on the hard courts.

Indian fans are hopeful their favorites will have a strong showing, potentially advancing deep into the tournament. With the stage set and players ready, the tennis world turns its attention to New York for what promises to be an exciting fortnight of world-class competition.

Let us now look at the Indian players who will be competing at the US Open 2024.

N Sriram Balaji and Guido Andreozzi- Men’s doubles

Sriram Balaji will be making his US Open doubles debut with Argentine player Guido Andreozzi. The pair is playing together for the first time at a grand slam. Balaji has had a good year so far as he and Victor Cornea reached the second round at the Australian Open. The Indian next reached the third round for the first time at a major during the French Open while playing with Miguel Reyes-Varela.

At Wimbledon this year, he suffered an early exit and now will hope to impress the fans on his first outing at Flushing Meadows. The 34-year-old is ranked No #66 in doubles.

Yuki Bhambri and Albano Olivetti- Men’s doubles

Yuki Bhambri and Albano Olivetti have been a successful combination on the ATP tour this season. The pair has reached three finals this season while winning two ATP 250 titles. The Indian is looking for his 50th career win in doubles and might secure the victory during US Open 2024.

Bhambri had played doubles at the US Open last season and lost in the opening round. He will be aiming to improve his numbers at New York. Olivetti’s record breaking serves will be needed for the pair in the fast moving court at the event.

Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden- Men’s doubles

Rohan Bopanna had made his US Open men’s doubles debut in 2008 and is making his 16th appearance at the grand slam. He and Matthew Ebden had reached the finals last season while losing to Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury in three sets. The 44-year-old will be leading the charge in doubles for India.

Bopanna is four matches away from completing 900 career matches on the ATP tour. He had started the season well with Ebden as the pair won the Australian Open and Miami Masters 1000 but their form dipped in the second half of this season.

Sumit Nagal and Yoshihito Nishioka- Men’s doubles

Sumit Nagal made his grand slam doubles main draw debut at Wimbledon 2024. He lost in the opening round while playing alongside Dusan Lajovic. The 27-year-old will next team up with Yoshihito Nishioka for US Open 2024.

The right left combination on the court will be interesting to watch for the fans. The pair will be playing their first match together.

Sumit Nagal- Men’s singles

It will be double duty for Sumit Nagal as he will be featuring in the men’s singles main draw at the US Open 2024 and a few days later in the men’s doubles draw.

The world No #72 has fond memories of Flushing Meadows as he had made his grand slam debut five years ago. Nagal faced Roger Federer and even took off a set against the Swiss maestro.

This time he will be facing Tallon Griekspoor in the opening round. The pair will be playing their first match on the ATP tour and had played once in 2019 at a challenger event at Bosnia-Herzegovina on clay. Griekspoor defeated Nagal in straight sets back then but this time Nagal is much more experienced and the crowd will be backing him at US Open 2024.
