(Watch) Sumit Nagal shares glimpses of practice ahead of 2024 US Open R1 match

Sumit Nagal will face Tallon Griekspoor of the Netherlands in the first round of the 2024 US Open.

Indian tennis star Sumit Nagal recently took to social media and uploaded a glimpse of his practice ahead of the 2024 US Open.

Sumit Nagal lost to Home Hope Corentin Moutet of France in the first round of the 2024 Paris Olympics. He returned to action at the Cincinnati Masters, where he lost in the first round of the qualification to Mackenzie McDonald of the United States.

He also entered the ATP 250 Winston-Salem Open, where he was drawn against Borna Coric of Croatia in the first round. Despite playing decent tennis, the 27-year-old lost to Coric in straight sets. Sumit Nagal has arrived in New York after suffering four consecutive losses across different competitions.

Nadal won his last match at the Austrian Open, where he defeated Lukas Klein of Slovakia in July. However, the Indian tennis star is currently in the US practicing for the last Grand Slam of the season. He recently took to social media and a video clip of him practicing for his first-round match.

He captioned the Instagram post, “Almost go time at the US Open. 4th match on Court 15 on Monday”. The 27-year-old will face the Netherlands’ Tallon Griekspoor in the first round at Flushing Meadows. Apart from singles action, he will also team up with Japan’s Yoshihito Nishioka.

The Indo-Japanese pair of Sumit Nagal and Yoshihito Nishioka will commence their men’s doubles campaign against the American duo of Robert Cash and James Tracy. Apart from Nagal, three other Indian tennis stars will also play in the men’s doubles event at the 2024 US Open.

Second seed Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden with face the Dutch pair of Robin Haase and Sander Arends. Meanwhile, the Indo-French duo of Yuki Bhambri and Albano Olivetti will lock horns against America’s Ryan Seggerman and Patrik Trhac.

N. Sriram Balaji, who teamed up with Rohan Bopanna to represent India at the Paris Olympics, will partner with Argentina’s Guido Andreozzi to face Marcus Daniell and Miguel Ángel Reyes-Varela. Interestingly, Reyes-Varela has also teamed up with Sriram Balaji and Guido Andreozzi in the past few months.
