The tables have turned since then, as her best clay result came at the French Open, where she lost in the quarter-finals. At the Madrid Open, she once again finished as a quarter-finalist and suffered a second-round defeat in Rome.
Hoping to win her first title on grass, Aryna’s ambitions were cut short thanks to Jessica Pegula’s dominant performance in Berlin, followed by a fourth-round heartbreak at the hands of Naomi Osaka at the Wimbledon Championships.
