Jannik Sinner has won two titles so far this season.

Since that heartbreaking loss at the US Open 2025 final against Carlos Alcaraz, which cost him the World No.1 ranking, Italian star Jannik Sinner has been relatively quiet. Fans are now eagerly waiting to see when he will be back in action.

The last time Jannik Sinner was seen in action was at the 2025 US Open, where he could not defend his title losing the summit clash to current World No.1 Carlos Alcaraz 2-6, 6-3, 1-6, 1-6.

Sinner also went down to Alcaraz in the 2025 Cincinnati Open final, a week prior to the US Open. Unlike Flushing Meadows though, the Italian retired mid-way through the opening game while 0-5 behind due to illness.

While the Spaniard was in action recently at the 2025 Laver Cup, Sinner decided against participating in the event. Infact, the 24-year-old Italian has never participated in the Europe vs World tennis exhibition event.

When will Jannik Sinner next be in action?

Luckily for Sinner fans the wait to see their favourite tennis star in action is set to end very soon.

The four-time Grand Slam champion’s next destination is the 2025 China Open, which will be held between September 25 to October 1st. Sinner won the title in Beijing in 2023 and was a finalist last year.

This time he is one of the clear favourites to lift the trophy again. But fans shouldn’t expect another classic final between Sinner and Alcaraz at the Chinese ATP 500 event, as Alcaraz will not be participating in the tournament.

Following the China Open, the Italian is expected to compete in the Shanghai Masters in the same country, which is scheduled to run from September 30 to October 12.

Sinner and Alcaraz will reunite again in the Asian tour at Shanghai. Meanwhile, the race for the year-end ATP No.1 remains very tight between the top two men’s singles tennis stars of the world.

Several important tournaments are still to come, including the ATP Masters 1000 events in Shanghai and Paris, as well as the season-ending ATP Finals in Turin. The outcomes of these events will ultimately decide who finishes 2025 at the very top.

In China, Sinner will face a star-studded field, including Alexander Zverev, Alex de Minaur, Lorenzo Musetti, Karen Khachanov, Andrey Rublev, Jakub Mensik, and Daniil Medvedev.

The year that saw him serve a three-month doping ban has been one of remarkable highs for Jannik Sinner. The Italian has won two of the sport’s biggest titles—the Australian Open and Wimbledon—while also finishing runner-up at Roland Garros, Cincinnati Open, and most recently, the US Open.

Now, as he heads into China, Sinner will be chasing what could be his 21st career title.

When will Jannik Sinner play next?

Sinner is set to begin his campaign at the China Open 2025 in Beijing starting September 25.

Who are the top players in China Open 2025 field?

The draw includes Alexander Zverev, Daniil Medvedev, Alex de Minaur, Lorenzo Musetti, Andrey Rublev, Karen Khachanov, and Jakub Mensik.

How has Jannik Sinner’s 2025 season been so far?

Despite serving a three-month doping ban, he has won the Australian Open and Wimbledon, while also finishing runner-up at the French Open, Cincinnati, Wimbledon doubles, and the US Open.

Is Carlos Alcaraz playing at China Open 2025?

No. Alcaraz is currently competing at the Laver Cup and is not expected to play in Beijing. He may face Sinner later in Shanghai.
