Elena Rybakina, seeking her third title of the season, will face World No. 8 Iga Swiatek for the title. The Pole will play her first WTA final in 2026. The duo will clash for the 13th time on the women’s tour and have split their previous meetings evenly, with six wins each.
Rybakina won their most recent encounter at the Australian Open quarter-finals in January in straight sets.
The Kazakh rallied from a set down to get the better of Coco Gauff, winning 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 in two hours on Wednesday night.
Up next for Rybakina is her first Canadian Open final, where she will renew her long-standing rivalry with Swiatek in a bid to break their head-to-head tie.
Swiatek scored a three-set win over Elina Svitolina 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 in two hours and 17 minutes. It will be the Pole’s first final in close to a year when she contests the trophy in Friday’s final.
The six-time Grand Slam champion has now advanced to her 14th WTA 1000 final after battling from a break down in the decider.
