Cirstea, for her part, has also cruised into the fourth round without dropping a set, beating Julia Grabher of Australia, France’s Diane Parry and Jasmine Paolini of Italy in straight sets to reach this stage.
A win here would send Pegula into the quarter-finals, where she could face either Russia’s Anna Kalinskaya or Emma Navarro of the USA.
