Will Carlos Alcaraz participate in Italian Open 2025?

Alcaraz recently missed the Madrid Open with a right abductor injury.
Carlos Alcaraz’s Barcelona Open final didn’t go as expected; the third-ranked Spaniard not only lost to Holger Rune 7-6 (8-6), 6-2 but also suffered multiple muscle injuries that forced his withdrawal from the Madrid Open.
“At the Barcelona Open final, I had discomfort in the right abductor, but I also felt something in my left leg,” Carlos Alcaraz revealed.
“I couldn’t practice the entire week and found out I had hamstring and groin injuries. I needed to listen to my body and make the right decision.”
Alcaraz further said, “Tennis is really a demanding sport.” Continuing further, he said, “Playing week after week, so many matches in a row, and you have to heal your body sometimes and take difficult decisions.”
The 21-year-old missed the Madrid Open, which left the tournament without the player who has won the tournament twice in the last three years, in 2022 and 2023.

Alcaraz has resumed training in Murcia, which might suggest a surprise Rome Masters appearance may be possible despite his recent withdrawal from Madrid.
Medical scans revealed good news: the small tear in his abductor muscle has completely healed, according to Marca.
The third-ranked Spaniard is gradually increasing training intensity this weekend, testing his body with competitive practice sets before making a final decision on the Italian Open.
