The Grand Slam is set to commence from June 28 at the All England Club in London.

The much-anticipated Wimbledon 2021 starts from June 28. The singles finals on July 10 and 11 will be held in front of a full house, thus making it the first event in England to be played with 100% spectator capacity. However, these spectators will definitely miss out on some of the game's big names.

Several top players have pulled out of the tournament over the past few weeks. Here, we take a look at some of these players who we won't witness in action at the All England Club.

6. David Goffin

Goffin's ankle injury forced him to pull out from Wimbledon 2021

The Belgian tennis star pulled out of Wimbledon 2021 because of an ankle injury. He sustained the injury when he slipped and fell on the court during a clash with Corentin Moutet in Germany. The incident co-incidentally also happened on a grass court.

His manager also added how disappointed Goffin was to miss out on the event. Earlier suspected to be a minor sprain, scans revealed it to be a major injury- which ultimately made him pull out.

5. Milos Raonic

Raonic could have been a serious dark-horse at Wimbledon

Canadian Milos Raonic announced his withdrawal from Wimbledon 2021 through a post on social media. The 18th seed said that despite working hard to heal his calf injury, he had a setback. As a former World No. 3, Raonic could have been a serious dark-horse to win the Grand Slam.

But, Raonic reassured his fans that even though he will be missing out on Wimbledon he will try to make a quick comeback later this year.

4. Dominic Thiem

Reigning World No. 5 Dominic Thiem has also pulled out of Wimbledon because of a wrist injury. Thiem suffered the injury during a match against Mannarino at Mallorca on June 23. This would have been the Austrian's seventh Wimbledon appearance.

The injury will keep him on the sidelines for several weeks. Thiem underwent tests on his injured wrist. The tests revealed a detachment of posterior sheath of the ulnar. According to the doctors' prognosis he will have to wear a splint for a minimum of five weeks.

3. Naomi Osaka

Osaka pulled out owing to her mental health issues

Japanese superstar Naomi Osaka shocked the world when she pulled out of Wimbledon 2021. She took the massive step because of her ongoing mental health issues.

Earlier she had also walked out of the French Open even after going through the first round. The second seed had made the decision after organizers fined her $15,000 and threatened expulsion from the tournament, as she had refused to attend the mandatory press conference.

2. Rafael Nadal

Rafael Nadal announced that he will not take part in Wimbledon and the Tokyo Olympics

Multi-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal also decided to give Wimbledon a miss this year, along with the Tokyo Olympics. Nadal has said that he made the tough call with the idea of prolonging his career. The continuous and rigorous battles on court were taking a toll on his body and a break was very much required.

The 35-year-old made the announcement on Twitter post his marathon French Open semi-final clash versus Novak Djokovic.

Simona Halep will not be defending her Wimbledon crown this year

The defending women's singles champion Simona Halep is the latest to pull out of Wimbledon 2021. She now won't get the opportunity to defend her title. There were reports about her participation in the tournament, as she was dealing with a calf injury she suffered in the French Open second round match against Angelique Kerber last month. But, there was also hope as the Romanian had said, "See you very soon" about her return at Wimbledon.

However, all the speculation was laid to rest with her official statement. The 29 year old said with a heavy heart that she wouldn't be able to compete. The calf injury had not healed, costing her an opportunity to step onto the Wimbledon grass.
