Novak Djokovic is yet to win a title this season.

Novak Djokovic, the 24-time Grand Slam Champion, will set foot at his favourite Grass Court at Wimbledon 2024 aiming for his 25th title. More than any Grand Slam, this journey of Djokovic will be the most watched. Due to a right knee injury, Djokovic had to withdraw before his quarter-final match against Casper Ruud in the 2024 Roland Garros.

However, he had surgery after the French Open and in just four weeks he has undergone his rehabilitation to be declared fit for the Championships. Djokovic has been seeded second and will be one of the favourites for the title. But this season, the 24-time Grand Slam champion is still without a victory on the Grass court.

The seven-time Wimbledon champion will play unseeded Vit Kopriva in the opening round of Wimbledon 2024 on Tuesday. Kopriva defeated Richard Gasquet in the last qualifying round to earn a spot in the Wimbledon main event. With the history favouring Djokovic’s side and the momentum favoring Kopriva’s side, it will be a match to look forward to.

Novak Djokovic vs Vit Kopriva preview

Djokovic’s quest for the 25th Grand Slam started in his favourite event, the Australian Open. Before the 2024 tournament, the Serbian was on a 28-match winning streak, winning four of the last five titles Down Under, skipping the 2022 edition. The streak was broken by Jannik Sinner in the semis. It has been topsy-turvy since then.

He suffered a shocking loss in the third round of Indian Masters to Luca Nardi, a World No. #123-ranked lucky loser of the tournament. He then underwent two of his longest French Open matches spanning over 4 hours each. With no title to his name this year, the 37-year-old would want to show the world what he is capable of.

While Djokovic is known to the world, there is an unknown Vit Kopriva will only be playing his second match in a Grand Slam. The man from the Czech Republic turned pro in 2015 and hasn’t registered a win in the majors. While it looks unlikely at Wimbledon, the 27-year-old will look to fight it out to make it happen.

Where and how to watch live streaming and TV broadcast of Novak Djokovic vs Vit Kopriva, Wimbledon 2024 first-round match in India?

The first-round match between Novak Djokovic and Vit Kopriva will be available for Indian viewers courtesy of Star Sports Network’s TV channel bouquet and its streaming service Hotstar.

Prediction

Novak Djokovic will start as the clear favourite for the game and the Serbian would want to put in a clinical show to prove his fitness and also remind others that he has still got it. It will be on the Grass courts at SW19 where he has relished tasting success not only on the grass but also with the grass.

Fans would be hoping to see his backhand dominating his opponents like he has done in the last two decades. His opponent Vit Kopriva will see the effectiveness of the Serb’s aggressive baseline play and his powerful return serves.

If he could stop them, then the slight possibility of an unlike event could see a light. Kopriva did a similar thing in the qualifier against the experienced Richard Gasquet. But Serbian will ensure to avoid complacency against his opponent who is a qualifier and come out registering his 371st win in the Grand Slam, which is the most by any player in history.

Result: Novak Djokovic to win in straight sets.
