How loud is Aryna Sabalenka's grunt? Wimbledon posts unusual stat during her third-round win against Emma Raducanu

Aryna Sabalenka’s comeback win against Raducanu sealed her spot in the round of 16.
Aryna Sabalenka demonstrated remarkable composure on Centre Court during her third-round match against local favorite Emma Raducanu. Despite facing pressure at several crucial moments, the World No. 1 repeatedly battled her way back into contention. With the home crowd firmly supporting Brit No. 1 Raducanu, Sabalenka was forced to keep her nerves in check, which she managed to do with impressive poise.
In the first set, Sabalenka created numerous break opportunities but couldn’t capitalize, including a marathon 13-minute game on Raducanu’s serve, where she had seven set points on offer. She herself was down a set point in the tiebreak but responded with a pair of expertly angled forehands to snatch the set away from her opponent.
The second set saw Raducanu surge ahead 4-1, energizing the crowd, but Sabalenka responded with an extraordinary comeback, winning five straight games to seal the set 6-4 and eliminate Raducanu, to the disappointment of British fans.
With every passing battle, the Belarusian is going from strength to strength, and while her victory over the Brit was a testament to her fighting spirit, an unusual stat from Wimbledon is doing the rounds all over social media.
Sabalenka’s grunt after every shot, and her roar on winning crucial points is often a highly debatable and controversial topic, with many terming it unsportsmanlike, and call it a potential mode of hindrance. During her previous match, a graphic was displayed comparing the sound of the top seed’s grunt, to a lion’s roar and a car’s horn.
The weird stat placed Sabalenka’s grunt on the second spot, only 1db short of a lion’s roar, and deemed it louder than a car horn and a motorcycle. While some fans have found this hilarious, others have slammed the 3-time Grand Slam champion for her repeated and “unnecessary” grunts.
Aryna Sabalenka is slated to meet Elise Mertens in the round of 16 on July 6 at centre court, brimming with confidence after surviving a fierce battle against Emma Raducanu. Mertens has been in good form, who comes on the back of a win over 14th seed Elina Svitolina and recently capturing the Libema Open title.
However, the Belarsuian holds a dominant 10-2 head-to-head record against the Belgian, including a nine-match winning streak and a grass-court victory. Backed by form and history, Sabalenka will be the clear favorite to advance.
